Sojourn the city of palaces, Jaipur

Jaipur is one of the most popular destinations in India given the fact that it is associated with such vivid history and the association of pink with the city and that’s why Jaipur is known as *The Pink City*. A single post can never do justice to the city, so I’m bringing you the *must-see* palaces and things to do in the Jaipur city!!

#City Palace

Once the seat of the king of Jaipur City Palace is a historical landmark built in 1730’s. The architecture of the palace will give you an impression of amalgamation from the Mughal style with typical Indian blend. The most salient feature of the palace is the grand decorated entrances to the palace which once owned one-seventh of old Jaipur city.

Spread over several acres the palace includes sections Chandra MahalMubarak Mahal, Pitam Niwas Chowk, Diwan-I-Khas, Diwan-I-Aam, Maharani Palace, Bhaggi Khana, and a temple. Chandra Mahal encompasses beautiful gardens, and surrounded by a lake holds a great museum now, although the majority portion of it is still a royal residence. Mubarak Mahal was initially perceived as the welcome area or the reception hall for visitors.

The palace is easily identifiable by its pink architecture – Yes! I know entire Jaipur city is indeed pink ;-). You will be mesmerized by the entry of the palace itself which has a great stoned craved door. The entire palace has a vast array of courtyards, beautiful gardens, buildings, intricate paintings, mirror works and a variety of historical heritage.

#Jal Mahal (Water Palace)

We got a glimpse of Jal Mahal – The Water Palace – a palace located right in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake.  Built-in light color with perfect symmetry in typical Mughal-Indian fusion style appears to be floating in the lake. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go inside as is being transformed into an exclusive restaurant. I managed to take the picture from a slightly far location which was in itself such a beauty difficult to put down in words.

#Amer Fort

Located on the tip of a hill, 11 Kms from Jaipur Amer fort is a major attraction for tourists heading to Jaipur city. The palace is magnificent is known for its artistic Hindu style elements, courtyards, and location. The palace is constructed with pale yellow stone with carvings and pleasing mirror work.  It is located on Cheel ka Tila literally translated as Hill of Eagles.
