Connaught Place is the heart of Delhi built during the British reign in the 19th century. It is also the starting point of central Delhi which also have some places to see just near the outer circle. One of them is the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Cathedral is not only one of the oldest churches but also the largest in Delhi.
Its construction started in 1930 when Father Luke initiated the Church and laid the foundation stone. Designed by a British architect named Henry Medd and is influence from Italian architecture.
One of the biggest ceremonies on Easter and Christmas are hosted by Sacred Heart Cathedral. It is one of the most beautifully decorated churches in Delhi on the eve of Christmas.
The interiors of the cathedral will certainly remind you of Roman influence and the Italian architecture.
The church is open to public and visitors can offer their prayers usually at any time of the day. Although if you wish to attend the prayers held by the Church, you must schedule your visit either in the morning or in evening.
