The Crown Patisserie Chandigarh Review

Décor

The restaurant has vivid interiors, with bright-coloured furniture I have seen ever in India. Throughout my blog, I have emphasised my love for colourful restaurants and I have found a perfect one. I would love if they open up in Delhi too 😉

The very entrance got me with their white coloured theme. Their furniture was in sync with red, turquoise & white colours. Bright red coloured decorations on the wall and uniquely designed red sofas were completely photogenic for me. A French Window styled balcony was a plus which was already taken, so we settled on a big red sofa in a corner.

That red velvet sofa with a kiss on a turquoise wall was perfect for me. Earlier we chose the chairs above, but because the restaurant wasn’t crowded, we changed to the grand sofa.

The best part of the restaurant was that their kitchen was facing the sitting area divided by a glass. It was like they have nothing to hide and are proud to flaunt their cooking techniques.

Food

We ordered three vegetarian dishes and two non-alcoholic drinks. One Fajita Sandwich, honey-chilly chicken wings, and Vegetable pot pie. I am a fan of smoothies and ended up trying some of the best smoothies I ever had – Mixed Berry Smoothie and Passionfruit dry fruit smoothie.

Mixed Berry Smoothie

Mixed Berry Smoothie is a typical berry smoothie with a unique sweetened flavour. It was my cousin’s drink, so I just got to taste it a bit sadly. It was pretty good, refreshing but a kind of drink usually found in a variety of restaurants. I tried similar berry smoothie in Chillis’ Delhi, which was nowhere in comparison to this, yup that good.

Passionfruit dry fruit smoothie

The Passionfruit dry fruit smoothie was unusual. The flavour of passionfruit was the highlight of the drink with slightly tangy flavour. The merged dry fruits enhanced the flavour. Passionfruit is usually my pick until I tasted the berry smoothie flavour. Now, it’s a tough choice between these two for me.

Fajita Sandwich

Next came the Fajita Sandwich which is a form of Mexican delicacy with a bread stuffed with the spiced Mexican vegetables.

The sandwich used white bread, you may ask for brown bread if you don’t like that. Served with white and red sauce to enhance the flavours. A type of deep fries was also served along with the main dish, which was like a nice top up. Bear in mind, they’re deep-fried.

I liked the sandwich, although I found it difficult to eat either using fork & knife or with hands. The stuffing keeps falling off from the sandwich giving a feel of just eating a plain bread. Apart from that, I was extremely delighted I chose the dish.

BBQ Chicken wings

The BBQ Chicken wings arrived just a few minutes apart with the flavour of coriander. The chicken wings prepared with either BBQ or lime sauce, we chose the former. The BBQ sauce gave the chicken an unconventional flavour, which I didn’t relish much. The third dish which arrived later was better than the chicken wings. If you like BBQ sauce, you may give this dish a try.

Vegetable Pot Pie

Vegetable pot pie arrived later and we had to rush to keep up with my schedule. The dish prepared from exotic vegetable with tomato gravy for a tangy flavour and boiled rice to enjoy it with. Served in a beautiful round bowl, the dish had a delightful sight. After a letdown from the previous dish, we jumped on this one, hence I couldn’t click a picture. But, I did manage to capture a photo when served on my plate.

This was one of the best dishes from all three we tried, but sadly we couldn’t finish it. But the lovely owner got the rest of the dish packed for us.

Desserts

While we waited for the bill and the dish to be packed, we thought of ordering a dessert from their amazing bakery menu. We chose cupcakes which I could have on my bus journey. Although they were too small to be packed in boxes they had, they did it anyway. I was completely amazed by the humble behaviour of the owner and the staff.

Cost

The Crown Patisserie Chandigarh is reasonably priced in the range of fine dining ones. All the food we ordered cost us as low as 2000 INR or 30$. Non-vegetarian dishes usually cost a little more, but the pricing is nominal.

The Verdict

I really enjoyed the meal, their superb service got their place on my blog. Decor and humble staff was the highlight for me from The Crown Patisserie Chandigarh.
